Jobs in Mexico

Most jobs in Mexico do not pay very well, as salaries in that country are typically far lower than they might be elsewhere, as low as $300 to $500 US dollars per month for minimum salary. Wages are usually paid every 15 days, although a few companies are now beginning to pay workers monthly. Wages are still often paid to workers in the form of bank checks, although the practice of electronically paying salaries directly into bank accounts is now starting to spread in Mexico as well. Workers, according to Mexican labor law, are entitled to receive a bonus four weeks pay once a year called the aguinaldo, whichg is usually paid in the month of December just before the holidays. Some larger companies in Mexico even pay an extra two weeks bonus aguinaldo for the beginning of summer as well. Office hours are not legally regulated but normally run from 8 am to 6 pm or 7 pm. Paid vacation days are regulated by law, but do not exceed 20 days per year for the longest term employees. There are also voluntary pension plans for Employees in Mexico allowing them to donate part of their pay to a pension fund that is added to by the government and the employing company.
